Summer Inspired Floral Vector Prints
I have been recently working on a new range of floral material inspired by the British summer we have had this year. Since we’re now thrust into winter this cold November day, here is a little warm reminder of flowers and colour which we used to see this summer since the trees have become bare of their leaves and the flowers wilt away till next year.
A series of four floral illustrations, consisting of a mixture of different flowers, which I have drawn and illustrated in illustrator. Using the different flowers elements I combined them into 4 different illustrations, which consisted of 2 floral repeat pattern prints. The floral repeat pattern is a little experimental. It can be a little tricky to work out the repeat so it repeats consistently without overlapping, its mostly playing with the elements and a little trial and error.
I had taken a fashion illustration course earlier in the year, at Central St Martins, it was a short course which gave me an insight into how to draw figures, Fashion illustration is a very different style and method, where the figure is very much exaggerated, and a complete world away from life drawing, where you have to draw the figure exactly how you see it. Using the eye, and precise measurements.
With the cycling illustration, I combined the floral and figure of the woman cycling with the typographic word cycling. During the summer I saw many cyclists enjoying the good weather. I too am a fair-weather cyclist and felt to capture this within the illustration.
