Vernel Fabric Softener
I have been busy working on an advertising poster campaign for a fabric softener which will be used on mainland Europe, I created the flowers using the gradient mesh tool using Adobe Illustrator 5, it’s taken time to create the shading and highlights, the effect has been working well, and the client has received the initial artwork well.
I tend not to use gradient mesh tool work within my illustration work, however, I am now seeing the benefits of this particular skill and style, and I would like to experiment and use it more within my work going forward.
The Gradient Mesh tool is a complex tool to get to grips with having never used it much before, however, once you master how to use it, it’s very effective and it delivers an interesting dimension to your work. Once I applied the gradient mesh tool pointer to the petal, a grid appeared, and gradient shading was applied to the petal. I applied the tool into each corner. I adjusted the grid to exactly where I needed it on the petals. To adjust the colour, I selected the anchor point and applied a CMYK colour to it. The colour applied, filled into the petal as a gradient fill. I played around with the colour and gradient mesh to create the above Gradient petals for the Vernel fabric softer brand.
