Paris Iconic Landmarks Mapped, Creating an illustrated map of Paris has been an immensely rewarding project, especially after my recent visit in August 2024, just following the Paris Olympics. During my stay in the Montmartre area, I had the opportunity to rediscover the charm and friendly atmosphere that has always captivated me. This trip rekindled my love for Paris as I explored its iconic sites and charming streets once more.
Inspired by my experiences, I endeavoured to capture the essence of Paris through my artwork. Wandering through Montmartre, visiting the Musée d’Orsay, and soaking in the vibrant ambience fueled my passion for illustrating renowned landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, and the Louvre Museum. My process began with hand-drawn sketches of these iconic sites, allowing me to highlight the architectural beauty and cultural significance that define Paris.
Once I completed my sketches, I transitioned to digitising them, which enabled me to refine each illustration, ensuring that the details and colours were both vivid and engaging. The digital format provided the flexibility to experiment with different compositions, resulting in a lively and captivating map that reflects the city’s vibrancy.
As I pieced together the map, I was reminded of the wonder I felt during my recent trip and the memories that surfaced as I explored the city. Each element of the map represents a fragment of my journey, capturing the dynamic character of Paris.
This illustrated map is more than a simple depiction of the city; it’s a celebration of the experiences that have profoundly influenced my artistic journey. I am eager to share this work and invite others to explore Paris through my perspective, appreciating its iconic landmarks and vibrant atmosphere. My hope is that this map will inspire a sense of adventure and curiosity in those who view it, encouraging them to discover the magic of Paris for themselves.
