Diwali Designs

I design festive cards every year, and its Diwali the festival of lights in a few days from now, I design a card to send to my family and friends, here are a selection of Diwali cards I have illustrated from the past. My Diwali card illustrations, I like to incorporate icons and stylised motifs referencing elements from Diwali, divas’ are one of the main significances of Diwali, as well as religious icons. Diwali involves lighting little lamps, or divas. These divas are kept are placed at doorways and opening and kept burning through the night, the home is also kept in good order and cleaned during Diwali as its an auspicious and religious time, both are done so to make the goddess Lakshmi feel welcome. Fireworks are burst because it is believed that it keeps away evil spirits. It is also the celebration of the return of the avatar Rama and Sita where they were sent away to exile for 14 years. During the Diwali celebrations all family and friends celebrating wear new clothes which signifies the special day and share sweets and snacks with each other.
