Delicate Floral Pattern

Here is an experimental pattern print inspired by nature. I combined the elements I have from my vector library to create this static illustration pattern print. I was inspired to create something which was delicate and intricate that combined elements from nature such as leaves, and insects. I like to work in both black and white as well as colour. Regarding my floral work, colour is something I think a lot about.

I test out colour palettes, and work through a range of colour and combinations one book I reference much of is the Colour index book, written by Jimi Krause, published by David & Charles. This book is invaluable. It has a wealth of colour examples which you can experiment with, all colours reference have complementary colours you can use with other colours as well as the CMYK and RGB references which allows you to create the colours patterns within design software programmes such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for example.
