New York Iconic Landmarks Illustrated. Creating an illustrated map of New York City has been an inspiring and fulfilling project. My visits to the city in the early 2000s left a lasting impression on me, and this map is a tribute to those experiences and the vibrant energy of New York that captivated me during my stays.
The process began with my reflections on my visits to New York City. Inspired by the city’s vibrant energy, I set out to capture its essence through my artwork. My experiences exploring the bustling streets, iconic landmarks, and diverse neighbourhoods fueled my passion for illustrating well-known locations such as Times Square, the Empire State Building, and the Brooklyn Bridge.
My approach to illustrating the map involved starting with hand-drawn sketches of these iconic landmarks. I aimed to highlight the architectural marvels and cultural hotspots that define New York City. From the impressive skyline to the dynamic streets, each drawing was crafted to convey the city’s vibrant spirit.
After completing the initial sketches, I transitioned to digitizing them. This allowed me to refine the illustrations, ensuring that each detail and colour was vivid and engaging. The digital format provided the flexibility to experiment with various compositions, resulting in a lively and captivating map.
As I assembled the map, I was reminded of the excitement and wonder I felt during my visits to New York City. Each element of the map represents a fragment of my memories and the city’s dynamic character.
This illustrated map is more than just a depiction of New York City; it’s a celebration of the experiences and moments that made an impression on me. I am delighted to share this artistic journey and invite others to explore the city through my perspective, appreciating its iconic landmarks and vibrant energy.
