Halloween has become a growing festival, with scary Halloween parties, and fancy dress, and lots of interesting Halloween merchandise too, its up there with Xmas. I create a illustration for Halloween, it’s a very interesting theme. With a wealth of visuals you can draw from, which include, pumpkins, skulls, crows, witches, thorn vines, and trees, for example.

This year I decided to base the Halloween illustration on a classic horror movie. ‘The Children of the Corn‘ I sketched the word Halloween, and drew fines and plant life, as well as skulls and pumpkins, to create the look of a strange and scary corn filed, the central focus of the illustration was the scarecrow, which takes prominence over the rest of the detail of the illustration.

Children of the corn is a movie about a couple who are on a road trip, when suddenly they hit a little boy with their car, after investigation, the boy was already murdered. They decide to drive to the closest town to find a police station, once reaching the town it is deserted. Burt wants to investigate further, Vicky is hysterical and would like to leave, while Burt is investigating, he hears the car horn sound, to discover Vicky has disappeared.

Burt see’s the children attacking the car, and then him, after a confrontation with the children, Burt runs and hides into a corn field, after stumbling into a opening he finds Vicky dead and crucified. Burt cannot find his way out of the open ground of the corn field, and is killed by the corn field monster. The next evening, the children of Gatlin (all members of a pagan cult that worships a demonic entity called “He Who Walks Behind the Rows” who inhabits the cornfields that surround the town)
