Blue Moon Brewing Company illustrated Glasses

Blue Moon Brewing Company illustrated Artists Limited Edition Glasses. A design agency based in San Francisco working with Blue Moon Brewing Company contacted me about creating a design for a beer glass. The creative concept required me to illustrate an all-white design that is supposed to be colored in by the customers. They gave me creative license to devise a concept in my illustrative style that reflects the company’s history and values, and it was a task that I took on with enthusiasm.

The concept behind the illustration was to reflect the history of the company. While Blue Moon was established in Colorado, its history spans the breadth of the United States. After Keith Villa, Brewmaster and Founder created the iconic recipe for Blue Moon in 1995, he and his crew traveled the road. For the next ten years, they visited bar after bar, store after store, to tell their story.

I wanted to illustrate a design that captured everything special about Blue Moon. The left-hand side of the design is inspired by Keith Villa, representing his experiences that have inspired the recipe for the beer. the pattern depicts the melting pot of ideas, creativity that have come together to make Blue Moon into the brand it is today. You’ll notice ingredients like Valencia orange peel, coriander, wheat and Hops, all mixing together to formulate the recipe.

Movement and travel are also seen in my illustration, and they are depicted on the right side of the glass design. The flowing lines represent the team’s travels across America, marking the beginning of the Blue Moon’s story as a road trip across America led the brand into establishing Blue Moon been into an internationally-known product that is shipped and drank around the world.
