Siena in My Sketchbook, Travelling to Tuscany is an artist’s dream come true, and sketching the breathtaking views of Siena in my Moleskine journal was an unforgettable experience. The city, with its stunning medieval architecture and vibrant streets, offers a perfect blend of art, history, and culture that captivates the senses.
During my stay in Siena, I was fortunate to have a hotel room with a terrace that provided a spectacular view of the city. From this vantage point, I could see the iconic red-tiled rooftops stretching out before me, with the magnificent Siena Cathedral perched at the top of the hill. To the right, the rolling hills of Tuscany unfolded, dotted with olive groves and vineyards, creating a picturesque backdrop.
Sketching this scene was both a challenge and a joy. The intricate patterns of the rooftops and the soaring dome and bell tower of the cathedral demanded careful attention to detail. Capturing the play of light and shadow across the cityscape was particularly rewarding, as the Tuscan sun cast a warm, golden glow over everything.
I enjoyed researching and looking for something interesting to draw in Siena, and settling on the rooftops felt like the right choice. This view captured the essence of the city and the breathtaking beauty of Tuscany.
