Quick Sketch Book Drawings, Let’s Go to the Movies
A couple of quick sketchbook drawings, drawn while sat in a coffee shop working on personal projects which happen in between commercial projects. Personal projects are an important development stage of illustration since you always want to be seen as being fresh and creative. It’s an important way of developing the work you do, of finding new methods to the way you work, while pushing your own boundaries. I try and jot down 10 ideas and thoughts a day, they might be illustration and design-related or not, the concept is to be an idea machine, to be creative thinking and generating ideas and concepts, and it’s a good skill to develop.
The sketchbook drawings where ideas I had been thinking of, it’s a good idea to take the had written ideas, and to draw them into quick sketches, to see if they work visually or not, I try not to spend to much time on them, however since my work is detailed and intricate, I sometimes find, I do, and its a conscious decision to keep working on it or to walk away and leave it as it is, and move on to the next thing.
Going to the movies, inspired by going to the movies… and the comfort food which we eat while watching a movie, taking my thoughts and visualizing them as a sketch. Geometric line drawings were born out of not drawing for a couple of days, sometimes you just need to put the pen to paper and see what happens, it does not have to be a masterpiece, you simply have to keep drawing.
