World Map illustration San Miguel 125th Anniversary Chalice Glass
The Marketing Store, a renowned agency located in Central London, embarked on a special project to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the San Miguel beer brand. They commissioned the creation of a limited edition world map illustrated by Chalice glass, designed to celebrate the brand’s rich history and global journey. These unique Chalices would be made available to consumers in bars throughout London, and those spotted drinking from them would have the opportunity to win a range of experience-based prizes. To support the Chalice’s launch, a digital media campaign featuring the Chalice as the central focus was developed. This campaign not only introduced consumers to the Chalice but also informed them about the exciting prize promotion.
The project’s brief called for the creation of an exquisite and illustrative timeline, part chronological and part geographical. This visual journey around the Chalice glass aimed to highlight significant dates, locations, events, quotes, inspirations, and influences that San Miguel encountered on its remarkable 125-year journey to the present day.
The initial sketch for the map illustration focused on the composition of five key historical dates and how they would be artfully depicted on the Chalice glass. The concept for the map involved illustrating a wave that gracefully encircled the Chalice, providing a dynamic and continuous visual narrative. Detailed spot illustrations were meticulously researched and crafted for each of these historical milestones, ensuring a chronological representation. Typography played a vital role in emphasizing these five pivotal years, while top and bottom banners on the glass proudly displayed the campaign’s slogan. Every aspect of the illustration was painstakingly hand-drawn to achieve a bespoke and captivating aesthetic for the map.
