Line Drawing Skyline Vanity Fair Magazine – New York – London – Milan – Paris
Vanity Fair Magazine France approached me with an exciting commission: to create a captivating map illustration for a fashion article in their new magazine. The task at hand was to depict the fashion capital cities of New York and London, as well as Paris and Milan. Each illustration needed to encapsulate the essence of these cities and showcase their most emblematic elements.
For New York, the illustration had to include iconic skyscrapers, the Statue of Liberty, a classic yellow cab, Union Station, and a building from the trendy Soho district. In contrast, the London skyline had to feature Big Ben, The London Eye, the Euro Star, The Gherkin, and The Shard.
Paris, with its timeless charm, was represented by the Eiffel Tower, a tramway train, and The Arc De Triomphe. Milan, known for its elegance, required illustrations of the Doumo, Cova patisserie shop, a Vespa, and perhaps a quaint Trattoria.
The approach to these illustrations was a meticulous and intricate line drawing style, executed in black and white. Each city’s skyline was carefully crafted by drawing and assembling iconic buildings and landmarks, ultimately capturing the unique character and allure of these four magnificent fashion hubs.
The resulting illustrations were not only visually striking but also successfully conveyed the spirit of each city, making them the perfect complement to the fashion article in Vanity Fair Magazine France.
