Havas Worldwide London, a renowned advertising agency, approached me to create an illustration for the new Citroen Cactus car as part of a press ad campaign. This ad would be featured in prominent automotive magazines such as BBC Top Gear magazine, known for its large and avid readership.
The concept and brief for this Citroen Cactus campaign revolved around illustrating the car as a dot-to-dot line drawing. The challenge lay in creating a detailed dot-to-dot drawing that would showcase the Citroen Cactus’s essential features. The key elements highlighted for the press ad included the car’s front end, the front grille, and the distinctive rear lights. The rest of the car was represented by dots in the dot-to-dot illustration.
The intricate and complex part of this illustration was ensuring that anyone attempting to connect the dots and complete the Citroen Cactus could do so successfully. Through trial and error, I carefully determined the dot placements to make them easily traceable for anyone attempting the dot-to-dot puzzle. The primary objective of this project was twofold: first, to convey the car’s overall shape, and second, to create a functional dot-to-dot line drawing that engaged and entertained the audience.
