illustrated Map Bordeaux Wine
illustrated Map Bordeaux Wine for Town and Country magazine enlisted my services to craft an intricate and hand-drawn map of the Bordeaux wine regions. This unique map came with specific requirements, as the client sought detailed borders to encase the text information highlighting various wine-producing regions in Bordeaux.
The map’s colour palette was a critical consideration, with a preference for a simple yet elegant design. The art director requested the creation of a red wine stain shape within this aesthetic, which presented a new challenge for me. Achieving this effect necessitated working with ink colours to recreate the appearance of a wine stain. The remaining colours primarily consisted of black, with accents of reds and burgundies to evoke the rich hues of wine.
Furthermore, the map called for the illustration of specific icons, including a compass, the Landes Forest icon, the Cognac District icon, and the Atlantic Ocean icon. I meticulously crafted various iterations of these icons, ensuring they seamlessly integrated into the map’s overall design.
To provide clarity and aid in navigation, the different wine regions within the wine stain were designated with numbers from 1 to 20. These numbers were strategically positioned within the wine stain, making them easily identifiable and corresponding to the detailed information provided in two information boxes – the left bank and the right bank sections. This approach allowed readers to gain a comprehensive understanding of Bordeaux’s wine regions while appreciating the artistic beauty of the map.
