As an artist, I was inspired to create a London Greeting mural based on the typography of retro postcards. To make the composition more dynamic and cohesive, I decided to illustrate iconic London landmarks within the city’s topography.
After completing the design on paper, I then printed it onto transparent acetate sheets and projected it onto a large sheet of paper on my living room wall. With a pencil, I traced over the projected lines until the entire illustration was complete. To further refine each line, I time-lapsed myself drawing the whole mural using a black Posca pen in one day and a half.
The finished product exceeded my expectations and made me realise that this type of illustration style comes naturally to me. It was an enriching experience and has motivated me to continue exploring new techniques in my artwork.
