Harpers Bazar India Map illustration Interview
Harpers Bazar India interviewed me for an article about the city maps drawings I illustrate. I was introduced to the editor by a recent client whom I worked with who commissioned me to illustrate tea 4 well-known tea growing regions in India.
The interviewer Komal Sharma asked me questions regarding my maps and was interested in how the map was initially started. The first map I drew was for a woman I was dating and the map consisted of locations we visited as part of the date, and I drew them as a keepsake map which I drew in my Moleskine sketchbook.
Over time the maps developed a style, and I was commissioned by creative agencies to illustrate the maps for campaigns, products and editorials. One of my personal favourite projects and is a self-initiated one, where I fly off to a European city on a day trip and I draw the city in my little Moleskine sketchbook. I scout a location while I’m in the city and I use the well-known landmark location as a backdrop where I hold up my sketchbook and take a photo for me social media platforms.
