Hand Drawn Owl
I have been busy working on a new range of illustration work which concentrates on the hand-drawn and intricate illustrative style combining elements from nature such as wildlife and flowers such as the above owl personal work illustration.
I began this illustration by sourcing interesting owl images, I was seeking something specific which was symmetrical as well as the owl having interesting feather detail.
Once I was happy with my owl reference image, I began to draw the intricate detail of the owl. The owl is mostly created from intricate floral shapes and leaves which makes up the silhouette of the owl. The owl slowly began to take shape and form. My aim was to hand draw the owl using my fine line Rotring pens. I then had a change of mind and decided to take the hand drawn old and create a digital illustration of it using photoshop, which at the same time retaining the hand-drawn look and feel while at the same time creating further detail drawn with my Wacom tablet pen.
The owl is by far one of the most intricate illustrations I have created by hand, and it uses varying fine line pen detail work as well as contrasting black and white silhouette floral imagery. I would like to complete the illustration by adding interesting colour and texture
