Hand Drawn London City Map

I have been busy illustrating a map of London city, inspired by well know iconic architecture such as, Tower Bridge, St Paul’s, Buckingham Palace as well as new iconic buildings which dominate the London skyline such as The Gherkin and the Shard, Canary Wharf and Heron Tower.

The illustrated London city map has been all hand-drawn from the typographic street names to the London architectural drawn buildings. I individually drew each element with fine liner Rotring pens.  The concept of the illustration was to showcase the architectural gems of London that are now a major part of the London skyline, as well as the architectural gems of London city, I created a stylised typographic feature, which includes hand-drawn street names, and the well know local areas of London, such as well Soho, Angle, and Shoreditch. The typographic styles include serif, 3D and Calligraphy typography styles.

The map is still a work in progress, I intend to fill in further individual detailed illustration into the map, My vision for the London city map is to fill it with as much illustrated detail, and to fill in much of the remaining space to create a dense urban sprawl
