British Airways Highlife Magazine
The British Airways High Life Magazine illustrations commission was for the food awards feature. Which was featured inside the High life inflight magazine, it was a pleasure to work on this particular commission, as it incorporated a lot of floral and intricate motifs, as well as being an illustration which would be seen by many people flying around the world on British Airways flights for a month-long period.
The High Life Magazine illustration is created of stylized vector food produce illustrations, and food-related products such as Knives and forks, salt cellars etc. These are all incorporated into my particular style of floral and foliage intricate illustrations. This illustration is all black and white, which was the creative direction given by the editor. I took the B&W color scheme which made the illustration a challenge and interesting at the same time, I carefully composed the illustration, as I wanted to ensure that the elements that made up the artwork did not become lost or unidentifiable. The placement of each of the stylized designs was carefully placed to together to minimize the loss of the silhouettes when there were instances they became overlapped, which I try not to do very much as the shapes merge and become lost in one another.
For each of the illustration, I constructed to the shape, firstly to build the frame, illustrated as a fine vector line artwork frame, on which I place the other building block motifs, which consisted of the floral, food and kitchen illustrated elements.
