Barnes and Webb Save the Bees Exhibition
I was invited to create a unique piece of artwork for a joint exhibition, Barnes & Webb launched an event for Save the Bees – an exhibition and auction of artwork celebrating the Honey Bee, This was truly a worthy cause if any, and I was excited to be a part of the exhibition with other amazing illustration artists.
With my new screen printing skills to hand, the bee illustration was something I knew would be just the sort of thing to screen print. I sketched out the bee, with intricate details incorporating flowers and leaves into the bee. I was inspired by how bees fly through the air and pollinate the flowers, and I wanted to capture this within the illustration.
I completed the illustrations and was ready to screen print the illustration. I have been printing at the Peckham Print Studio for the last couple of months building up my printing skills, with just a handful of prints to print, it was still a difficult 2 could screen print, as the detail of the print was very fine, and the exposing and washing process was tricky. In the end, I had to hand draw in some detail, which was a pleasure to do, as it added more labour to the illustration, Hopefully, the winning bidder would value the effort, as it is far removed from a digital print.
