Barcelona Travel Holiday
Barcelona Travel Holiday and Inspiration. I recently travelled to Barcelona for a holiday with a group of international friends. While it was a holiday, being a freelance illustrator you are not able to completely switch off. I always carry a sketchbook and pens, and it was a good opportunity to work on my Moleskine map project. I illustrated a city map of Barcelona. I picked the famous sites such as the Sagrada Familia, Casa Mila, Casa Batllo, Barcelona Cathedral and the Barcelona Museum of Modern Art.
I could see a lively creative scene in Barcelona. While walking around you can see the creativity all around you. The Gaudi architecture to the graffiti at the street level, which is all around you. I walked around the gothic quarter and the narrow lanes it was a good opportunity to take photos. I picked a selection of photos of things I saw while walking around.
I escaped to the Costa Brava with my good friends where we stayed in a villa for 5 days. It was great to get away from Barcelona for a few days and go to the beach and relax. I value the time to switch off and do nothing. I have been on holiday and had to take work with me. This comes with being freelance unfortunately, on this occasion it was pleasant to completely switch off and enjoy the holiday. I managed to squeeze in some drawing into my sketchbook.
I completed my Barcelona city map quite and also illustrated a little post-it note that read hello Barcelona. I planned to go to Primavera sound with a different set of friends, my first festival abroad. My expectation of Primavera sounds was beyond what I expected at its a great music festival one which I would enjoy going back to. I enjoyed going to different venues and the line up was very impressive. I was lucky enough to see Radiohead, Beirut, Last Shadow Puppets and Beach House.
On the last day, I managed to squeeze in a little casual sightseeing, with a visit to the Picasso Gallery to see his lithographic prints. I photographed my Moleskine sketchbook and post it for my Instagram feed. A great holiday destination one which I hope to return back too soon.
