Clarks Shoes Typography
Clark’s shoe typography hand drew an illustration. I have had the pleasure of working with Clarks shoes to create illustrations for Clarks shoes internal marketing booklet. The document would need me to illustrate 12 illustrations. The illustrations would help explain the body copy. The text explains in details the aims of Clarks to their clients and stakeholders.
Clarks shoes were looking for an illustrator with a hand-drawn style. My style of work suited to their specific requirements. I was briefed by the senior designer, The designer briefed me to illustrate over the photography of some of Clarks iconic well know shoes.
The illustrations consisted of mostly typographic elements highlighted within the main body copy. There were also shape structures, such as a star and a heart surrounding the photographed shoe. I illustrated within the shapes to make up the star and heart. Illustrating the typography and elements gave the illustration a bespoke and crafted look and feel.
I traveled to Clarks HQ. The Main HQ is based in Somerset England. The Clarks campus is a large complex. The campus still has the original Clarks building where it all began. There are also further buildings added to it as the business grew. Clarks has an impressive design department, which houses the shoe design team. It also houses the graphic design and marketing departments.
I was given a tour to see how Clarks worked behind the scenes tour of the campus. The design departs tour gave me a opportunity to see how the business operates and creates their iconic shoes. This opportunity was a benefit, as I was able to see first hand the process involved in making the Clarks shoes. I was given permission to photograph certain aspects of the design process to illustrate them for the marketing illustrations.
