Line Drawing Crabtree and Evelyn
Crabtree and Evelyn, a renowned brand, reached out to my London-based illustration agency, Central Illustration, with an exciting commission. They requested the creation of six unique teacup illustrations, each featuring famous London landmarks. Specifically, the landmarks chosen for this special booklet were The Gherkin, Tower Bridge, and Big Ben, all centred around the delightful theme of tea drinking.
To bring these teacup illustrations to life, I meticulously studied photographs of Chinese teacups. It was crucial to capture the intricate details of these cups, including their beautiful floral patterns and ornate bird motifs. The rotating pens I typically use for my illustrations proved to be the perfect tools for this task. Their precision allowed me to recreate the teacups’ minute details faithfully.
One of the primary challenges of this project was ensuring that the drawings maintained their intricate detail even when scaled down in size. This required a high level of precision and attention to detail throughout the illustration process.
Upon completion, the client expressed their satisfaction with the finished illustrations. To my delight, I also received several copies of the tea booklet that featured my artwork. As a tea enthusiast myself, it was a genuine pleasure to peruse the booklet, which offered insights into the diverse world of tea and its delightful sweet accompaniments. This project not only allowed me to contribute to a visually engaging booklet but also deepened my appreciation for the art of tea drinking and the beautiful teacups that make this ritual all the more enjoyable.
