illustration Map Oxford Street for Shortlist Magazine
Shortlist magazine , a popular free circular in London, commissioned a vibrant map illustration for an upcoming Oxford Street shopping feature. The goal was to infuse the artwork with a tropical summer theme, aligning seamlessly with the digital approach organized by the agency for the Oxford Street shopping experience. With a plethora of participating brands spanning Men’s, Women’s, Cosmetics, and Food Establishments, the task was to artistically represent this diverse array of shops.
Given the sheer number of shops to be featured, a well-thought-out organization was essential. The most effective approach was to employ a numbered key system, represented by numbered dots strategically placed along the length of Oxford Street.
The central element of the map naturally revolved around Oxford Street, which needed to take the spotlight in the illustration. Additionally, other roads branching off from Oxford Street were labelled to provide readers with reference points to determine their location along the iconic shopping avenue. Ensuring the map’s functionality and a certain degree of realism were pivotal aspects of the project, aimed at providing readers with a useful and engaging tool.
