London Cityscape Drawing
London is an ever-changing city, over the last 25 years I have observed many changes, the architecture, people, cultures, fashion, art, music, the list can go on. It’s a city which is adaptable, and it seems to improve, develop and change, to meet new demands. To sum up it’s a world-class city which is hard to beat.
I have been drawing and working on hand drawn illustrations. I started to work on the London cityscape illustration, drawing individual and well know architectural landmarks, which include The Shard, BT Tower, The Gherkin, Tower Bridge. I drew this architectural well know gems with fine line Rotring pens, I penned in much detail into the drawings, which at the same time retaining the well know the architectural form of the buildings. Once the drawings had been sketched, I started to scan and layer each of the illustrations on to separate layers within Photoshop.
The concept of the illustration was to create a London panoramic cityscape. From the north side of the river looking down south to the river Thames, from east to west, I placed each of the buildings according to where they would be. Starting on the left side, You would start by looking at Shoreditch, where you would see Heron Tower at Liverpool St as well The gherkin, Straight down the centre, there would be Tower bridge, and across to the west, St Paul’s and BT tower. Other elements of London which I illustrated where the iconic London Route Master bus and the Black Cab, which are being swept along in a turbulent wavy drawing of the river Thames.
