Brixton Village Detailed Pen Drawing
Brixton Village illustration was inspired by The Brixton map illustration, that was created and posted earlier in the month on the blog. I had drawn detailed sketches of well-known locations from Brixton, such as the Ritzy Cinema, Brixton Academy music venue, the Brixton Windmill, and Brixton Village. I chose to further develop the Brixton Village sketch drawing, adding typography and objects associated with Brixton Village, for example, fruit and veg which can be found on the market stalls as well as Restaurant food which many people now come for, and the Village is well known for.
The Brixton typeface was inspired by typographic reference material I had collected, which then inspired the very outer border surrounding the Brixton Title, which is an intricate fine detail line border, it was sketched, to begin with, and then I used a selection of Rotring pens to go over the pencil initial sketch drawings.
The illustration is a mix of hand-drawn and digital elements, The whole of the illustration is hand-drawn with fine liner Rotring pens as individual sections. Once all the elements of the illustration were drawn, they were then scanned and composed together using Adobe Photoshop, using a range of filers and layers to give the visual look that the illustration had been drawn as one whole illustration.
