Crow Floral Pen and Ink Drawing
I have been working on a series of wild animal illustrations. These particular wild animal series I have been drawing with fine liner Rotring pens. The fine Rotring pens allow me to draw with much finer detail and accuracy. The crow illustration I began by drawing the outline of the branches which I established as the core branches of the crow, which flow from the bottom of the crow up to its head. From the branches, I drew the fine detail of the leaves and flowers which created the shape and body of the crow. The tail of the crow I thought to draw dense and with different and varied leaves to simulate the look of feathers which look to be more feathered and fanned from pictures of crows I had collected as reference material for the hand-drawn wild crow sketch.
Once all the elements of the illustration are withdrawn, I then scanned the illustrations into Adobe Photoshop at 400 dpi. Once I scanned all the drawing, I layered the artwork and applied the multiplier filter to bring through each of the layers as one piece of artwork. Some of the line work needed to be corrected due to some mistakes while drawing the crow illustrations, however, I wanted to retain some level of raw hand-drawn feel, and the corrective digital work was kept to a minimum. this is the 2nd wild animal series drawing I have completed.
