Berlin is one of my favorite cities, and this is the 3rd time I have visited. I am lucky to have some friends, which makes it a good reason and a great destination to return back too. I enjoyed this trip to Berlin, as it was an inspiring and relaxing trip. Berlin is a great place culturally with a wealth of design, which is all around you. You always hear people say, Berlin is great for design and culture, I wouldn’t say that is an exaggeration.
Berlin April 2014
Berlin has a wealth of design, which can be found all around the city, from graffiti too, small independent art galleries as well as large galleries, little boutique designer shops, and great book shops. Above is a selection of images I had taken while in Berlin on my Canon EOS M camera, with a 22mm prime lens. The first was the Berlin wall. which brings you back down to earth. Walking around Berlin, there are many little boutique design shops, I came across this particular shop on Kastanienallee. I was fortunate to also see the new exhibition by
. On 3,000 square meters in 18 rooms and the spectacular Lichthof, displaying works and installations which were either designed for the Martin-Gropius-Bau or have not yet been shown in Germany. The Ai Weiwei exhibition and work focuses much on his political views about China, and much of the work has a depth and meaning to it, much of it on how he has been treated by the Chinese authorities and how they despise Ai Weiwei’s views on Chinese censorship and freedom of speech.
