Christie’s and The Guardian
Christie’s the auctioneer’s approached me to create a set of four illustrations for a advertising campaign which would be printed in The Guardian newspaper. I was asked to go to the Christie’s warehouse which is based in Battersea. I spent some time looking around the warehouse and selecting the furniture which I felt in particular would work stylistically with the rectangular format of the advertisement.
I then used those photographs and converted the images into black and white images with Photoshop. I managed to separate a level of detail from the furniture, which I would use to layer and add detail to the images. The black and white images were imported into adobe illustrator where I converted the images in to vector artworks. Once I created the main focal piece, I created my floral style around the furniture piece.
Each of the 4 advertisements, had to be distinctly different from each other, however the brief was to create a recognizable style for each of the 4 illustrations which established that they are part of each other. Each Christie’s advertisement would be published inside the Guardian newspaper one week after each other.
As well as the Christie’s Guardian Newspaper campaign. The illustrations were also used as large window posters and hung inside the London Christie’s auctioneers shop front windows.
