Here is a selection of vector line drawing I have been working on, I created these work using my A4 Wacom tablet, all the vector lines are hand drawn and then adjusted in illustrator. The selection of illustrations above have been taken from the sketch phase I work on before moving onto 3D quilling illustration work.

You can view the quilling style clicking on the link, however  I chose not to show the end process, because its a very different style from that of which most of my blog followers know of. The vector line drawing stage is close to my original vector line drawing style. I use the wacom tablet to draw each individual line, as you can see from the examples of work above. the lines swoop and curve as well as intersect each other this is a characteristic of this particular style. I also enjoy working of the typography which can form the bases of being a integral part of the illustration.

This style is very much in the development stage. I hope to create more of it moving forward.

Ralph Lauren approached me to create a new packaging pattern, which would be used on bags and perfume boxes, I was sent some images of the photography shoot images of the perfume box, and I cant express how pleased I am, I will certainly have to purchase the gift box for my artwork archives.

The Pattern involved me hand drawing elements with a fine liner pen on to paper, as well as using my Wacom tablet to draw patterns into Adobe Photoshop. I scanned the ink pen patterns, and converted the pattern artwork to a bit map image. Bitmap image format is a convenient format which always you to apply flat colour to it once you import the image to Adobe illustrator.

The bitmap image retains the image quality of the scan, without you having to have to convert the image to vector outlines. Using Adobe Illustrator, you can easily use the eye dropper tool to pic colour from images, or select the colour from the colour palette and apply it to the image to change the colour of it.

I combined the hand drawn bitmap images and vector artworks within Illustrator to create the pattern. Once the pattern was approved I supplied the artwork as a high res flat digital artwork, saved down as a jpeg. The design agency involved used the Ralph Lauren, Valentines Day romance pattern on to the perfume gift box as well as other gifts.
