A little village inside the capital, Stoke Newington has been rated Londoner’s favourite shopping street. But there’s plenty besides the hip clothing and lifestyle boutiques to love, including a crop of new restaurants and North London’s biggest slice of greenery, Clissold Park.

In terms of Radius addresses in Stoke Newington I’m thinking the following:

– Strut Archives: 182 Stoke Newington Church Street, London, Greater London N16 0JL (vintage clothes)

–L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele: 125 Stoke Newington Church St, Stoke Newington, London N16 0UH (straight from Naples this tiny baby blue venue is meant to be best pizzeria in town, with queues around the block!)

–Hub: 88 Stoke Newington Church St, Stoke Newington, London N16 0AP (this is a cool menswear shop, specializing in cult labels but will mention the womenswear shop down the road in copy too),

– Search and Destroy: 129 Stoke Newington Church St, Stoke Newington, London N16 0UH (lifestyle store, with everything from clothes and jewelry to nick-nacks.)

–Botanique Workshop and Flower shop: 166 Stoke Newington Church St (pretty self-explanatory)

–Good Egg: 93 Stoke Newington Church St, Stoke Newington, London N16 0AS (hip Isreali-influenced eatery with great brunch!)

–Nook: 153 Stoke Newington Church Street (very Instagram-friendly array of homeware etc…)

–The House at Clissold Park: (Mansion house serving up coffee and cakes in the middle of the park )

Moleskine City Map drawings, exploring a city in one day really encourages you to make the most of your new surroundings, and fully immerse yourself in a different culture. Every Moleskin Map I draw conveys the enlightening expeditions I experienced while taking in the sights of cities across Europe.

I started on the Moleskin Maps project in October 2015, when I visited Copenhagen as my first day trip. When I embarked on the journey, I had no idea that the project would take me on 12 day trips to Europe’s most beautiful and exciting cities.
Before each trip, there is a thorough planning process. The trip should cost less than £100, covering the return journey, any connections, activities and food. I also draw a rough sketch of the city, which includes all of the locations I plan to visit. Having a plan and doing preliminary sketches gives me more time to explore so I can fully experience the culture and charm of every city.
So far, I’ve drawn 22 Moleskin Maps, and continue to build on my collection with a view to developing the project further with every new trip I take. I would love for my maps to serve as city guides, giving travellers a good idea of how they can quickly and efficiently explore some of the world’s most wondrous cities in a day – and, on a dime.

Costa Coffee Westfield London

We Create Clarity a design agency based in Bedfordshire, were in touch to commission a city scape type drawing for their client Costa Coffee. Costa coffee had plans to refurbish one of their key coffee shop locations. The Costa coffee shop in the large shopping mall Westfield, White City London, would go under refurbishment, and were looking to commission a illustration which would feature on 2 of their large walls.

I was commissioned to illustrate 2 large wall illustrations at the Costa Coffee Shop. The first illustration a London cityscape illustration that combines drawings of iconic London architecture for example the London Eye and the Ritz, as well as drawings of Residential and shop fronted London buildings you would see on a normal London High Street. The most important key feature of the illustration was to show the first Costa Coffee shop location founded just of Southwark Bridge.

The second illustration commission focused on the Costa Coffee shop front, with illustrated people going about their daily routines and buying coffee. Within the composition of the illustration, the brief indicated to incorporate food elements to represent fresh food and coffee.

Each element of the illustration was drawn and then scanned to a very high resolution; this allowed me to work 1:1 scale. Working to this scale had its challenges one of which was the computer working very hard and slowing down.

I explained the client; working to scale would be the best option as it retains the quality of the hand drawn lines. I don’t like to vectorise my work, since this changes the look and feel of the work and the hand drawn quality of the lines are lost and the illustration looks a lot more digital.

One of the benefits of drawing the individual aspects of the illustration and scanning them separately and composing them into photoshop, gives you the flexibility to make changes to the illustration easier.

Seeing the illustration and the scale in real life was an amazing feeling. The illustrations looked great up on the walls of Costa Coffee, and suited the interior design.

DST Services White Board Icon Drawings

DST Services whiteboard drawing icon. DST Systems, Inc. is a leading provider of strategic advisory. transformative technologies, and operations outsourcing to the financial and healthcare industries. Relying on deep industry knowledge, critical infrastructure, and service excellence. DST helps companies master the escalating complexity of customer, business and regulatory requirements.

DST Services commissioned illustration. A range of varied hand drawn icons illustrated in a brain storming white board style. The Icons were used for 3 specific categories for the DST website which is going under new design development.

The icons I illustrated had to be fluid and loose drawings with little detail. I developed a hand written typeface to accompany the illustrations as well. The hand written type was crafted to be loose which represented Quick and free hand writing which you would find on a office white board.

The 3 Main categories included, Asset Management, Financial Services and Healthcare. The Icons are illustrated around a photographed persons head, to convey the look that the person in the photograph is deep in thought. The icons list was extensive. Each icon is composed and placed within Photoshop making the illustration modular. This give the client flexibility to be able to adjust the icons and place them in their own way if they feel the need to.

For example the illustrated icons for Asset Management included. a computer, charts & graphs, pie charts, Venn diagram, bar graphs, line charts, area charts, Icon representing a team, arrow that represents market fluctuation, swirl of documents, a globe or something to indicate global, as well as words such as compliance, analytics, security, process, management, efficiencies.

Detailed Hand Drawn and Digital Fruit Drawings

Here are a selection of food drawings I have been working on, The drawings are of your everyday food items which include, Fruit and vegetable drawings as well as fast food drawings. This is a on going series of drawings of everyday objects that I have taken a keen interest in illustrating. I have tried to capture the identifying features of the items mostly by the pen lines. I vary the pen lines which may consist of continuous line or broken lines which can fill large and small areas with the drawings.

My early drawings which consisted of mostly outline drawings, have gone under some development, I figured the drawings needed some more depth to them, with that in mind, I have played about with adding subtle details to the drawings, in terms of lines, different line styles and weights. I have begun to introduce limited colour to the illustrated drawings.

My work consists of black and white lines with very limited colour. The everyday drawing series, It was important to investigate how colour could be used with the black and while line drawings. The colour developed into an almost solid colour, with a hint of colour shading> it was important to overall retain the drawn illustrated pen look and feel, without the illustrations looking to digital, which is a conscious decision for me,

Crabtree and Evelyn The Gherkin and Big Ben Drawings

Crabtree and Evelyn, contacted my London illustration agency, Central Illustration, looking to commission me to create 6 individual teacup drawings and famous London Land marks, The Gherkin, Tower Bridge and Big Ben for a special booklet all about tea drinking. The tea illustrations were illustrated from photos of China teacups supplied by Crabtree and Evelyn. The illustrations had to be drawn with enough detail; so that once the drawings were reduced down in size they still retained the drawing detail.

The China teacups were had beautiful detail to them, intricate floral patterns with detailed birds. The Rotring Pens I use to draw with were perfect for the job, to capture the little details on the teacups. The Client was very happy with the finished illustrations, I also received several copies of the little tea booklet which was fascinating, being a fan of tea drinking myself, to read about the many different types of teas and sweet accompaniments you can enjoy with your cup of tea.

Typographic Annotation Heart

Typographic Drawn Heart Illustration jitesh patel

Typographic Drawn Heart Illustration

Its Valentines day soon, this is my alternative valentines day illustration. Look after your typographic annotation illustration, inspired by keeping your heart healthy with a few simple simple steps in the change of your lifestyle. I signed up for the British Heart Foundation London to Brighton cycle ride this year. I enjoy cycling, and I have always thought about taking part, and much of that is being organised and signing up early. I guess this is a Valentines day alternative illustration and a keep your heart fit and healthy double illo.

I made a quick search about advice on how to keep your heart healthy some of which is common knowledge, these include, Get active, Dont Smoke, Watch your weight, Less Stress, Eat Oily Fish Sleep More, Eat Healthy Ditch the Salt and Get your 5 a Day. I drew stylised hand drawn typography for each of the headings around the main drawing of the heart. Once all the headings and the spot illustrations for them were drawn in, I wrote the accompanying annotations for the spot illustrations and headings, some of which are serious thoughts on keeping your heart healthy, and I combined them with a humour.

The concept of the illustration was to create a dense typographic annotated illustration with a varied mix of hand drawn illustrated drawings as well as combining the drawings with a mix of different typographic styles, injects with a a serious but humours message.

Mens clothing Grid Drawings

Winter Mens Clothing Grid illustration Jitesh Patel

Winter Mens Clothing Grid

Winter brings out all the layers, its been cold recently and this illustration was inspired by the particular clothing worn to layer up and keep warm. I personally enjoy winter and layering up clothing, this is a personal favourite illustration. These particular pieces clothing illustration based of clothing that is worn, during normal winter climate, especially the kind of winter weather found in the UK, not the extreme weather conditions encountered while mountaineering or hiking.

I selected a few essential pieces of clothing to draw for the winter clothing grid, The essentials in particular are the winter parker, Hats scarf and Gloves, I think the messenger back looks great too. All of the clothing pieces were drawn with fine detail, to show interesting construction of the clothing.

You often see clothing grids online if you search for the, many of which are photographic. I liked the idea of hand drawing the grid, which I feel gives the clothing a more considered feel and look to them, while at the same time giving the clothing another dimension other than one that your use to seeing in a photographic context .
